Russia, a former industrially developed nation, has lost a lot of its potential. Now, as the country is engaged in a full-scale war with Ukraine, it needs to rapidly regain some crucial technology it has lost. There was a time when Russia (or the USSR, to be precise) was supplying China with modern machinery. Now it’s time to reciprocate. Wuhan Huazhong Numerical Control Co sees an opportunity in this situation and has entered into a lucrative strategic contract with CNC-Volga, one of the affiliates of Rostec, a weapon manufacturer.

The agreement is commented by CNC-Volga home region government. In the government of the Bashkir republic (part of Russian Federation), the technological capabilities of the company LLC “CNC-Volga” for providing enterprises in the defense industry and machine building with state-of-the-art CNC systems were presented. This was reported by the regional government’s press service.

Wuhan Huazhong Numerical Control Co is crucial for the mission success
“CNC-Volga,” in collaboration with the leading Chinese manufacturer Wuhan Huazhong Numerical Control Co, is engaged in localizing the production of numerical control systems used in automated control systems and robotics.
“Within the framework of import substitution efforts, the republic is increasing its production output. Overall, our industrial production index for the first 7 months reached 105%, which is 2.4 percentage points higher than the average Russian value. The demand for high-quality and reliable equipment in enterprises is significant, especially in the field of turning and milling machining centers with 5-axis processing, “noted Prime Minister Andrey Nazarov.
According to the head of the regional government, Bashkortostan has competencies in machine building. Last year, machine-building enterprises such as “Stankostroenie,” “ESM,” and “Stankomontazh” produced 40 metal-cutting machines. “CNC-Volga” will serve as a conduit for cooperation between Chinese state-owned companies and enterprises of the “Rostec” State Corporation.
