China plans to create an Arctic silk road
Using Polar silk road in Antarctica, China can save about 20 days during transportation compared with transportation through the Suez canal .
The state Council of the people’s Republic of China introduced a plan to create Arctic the silk road in the Arctic.
“China hopes to cooperate with all parties in the construction of the Polar of the silk road through the development of vehicular routes in the Arctic,” reads the statement of the Executive body.
As the newspaper notes, despite the fact that China is not included in the Arctic Council, because it does not have territory in the Arctic, the country gained the status of observer state in 2013.
Earlier, the state newspaper China Daily reported that due to the Northern sea route, China can save about 20 days during transportation compared with transportation through the Suez canal.
The activation of China in the region has raised concerns among the Arctic States about the long-term goals of the country.
