Boskalis has brought in his biggest assignment ever, with a land development project for the New International Airport of the Philippine capital Manila. The project has an estimated value of EUR 1.5 billion.
The International Airport is about 20 km north of the heart of Manila. The construction of the approximately 1700 hectares of airport will be carried out according to the highest technical standards in order to withstand the effects of possible major earthquakes, typhoons and future sea level rises. The airport is also an extension of the existing and congested Manila International Airport, Ninoy Aquino.
The preparatory work is planned for the first quarter of 2021 and Boskalis’s activities are expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
The mission comes from the Filipino company San Miguel Aerocity Inc (SMAI), which will build, maintain and operate the airport. SMAI received a 50-year concession from the Government of the Philippines.
