The company Waymo during the week will expand a test program of its unmanned trucks on the roads of new Mexico and Texas.
Note that that Waymo develops not only passenger robomobile, but RoboForm, first became known in August 2017. Since then, unmanned tractors of the company for the Peterbilt 579, managed to ride on the roads of California, Arizona and Georgia. They were also tested on the closed territories in Michigan, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to itc.ua.
Now Waymo announced that testing of its RoboForm will soon be expanded into two new States — Texas and new Mexico.
According to engineers “daughter” of the Alphabet, the tests will focus on the interstate highways 10, 20 and 45, as well as routes agglomerations El Paso, Dallas and Houston. The company claims that these areas represent “potential commercial interest”, although not yet disclose specific plans for commercialization of their developments.
Finally, we note that before the roads of the above States will leave roboguru, it will pass Waymo equipped with a number of sensors in the minivans, Chrysler Pacifica, which will collect various information about various routes. Based on them, the developers then create high-precision maps of the area, and only after that on the road will leave an unmanned truck company that will move offline, though with insuring the driver in the cab.
This week, we’ll start driving our Chrysler Pacificas and long-haul trucks in Texas and New Mexico. These are interesting and promising commercial routes, and we’ll be using our vehicles to explore how the Waymo Driver might be able to create new transportation solutions. pic.twitter.com/uDqKDrGR9b
