Buses will be in Germany.

In Germany, Volvo signed a contract to develop a 12-meter electric bus that can move without a driver.

The company noted that the main task for the autopilot will be moving between car parks and service stations without a driver.

“It would be inefficient to force a person to sit behind the wheel as the bus wash, energize and prepare for the next flight. It is not about replacing human robots, but about enhancing productivity and safety. To do this, the operator need only press a button and send the car on the sink or in the garage,” – the newspaper notes.

The company has conducted tests of unmanned buses before, but this test took place in real conditions on site of the present car fleet in Gothenburg. About terms of emergence of such buses on the roads of Sweden or Germany Volvo has not yet reported.

“Before we can see fully Autonomous buses on public roads, it will take many years, but since the fleet is a closed territory with a predictable and regular flow of traffic, there are Autonomous buses can appear much earlier,” said Hakan Engevall, President of Volvo Buses.
