Navistar shares rose on Monday by about 6%.
The unit of German automaker Volkswagen for the production of trucks and buses — VW Truck & Bus is considering purchasing an American truck manufacturer Navistar.
That such a deal is possible, said on Monday Finance Director of VW Truck & Bus Matthias Grundler, writes “Kommersant”.
VW already owns a 17% stake in Navistar, the absorption of this company, according to Grundler, can cost from 3 billion to 4 billion, he said, we are talking about dollars or euros.
Navistar is one of the largest American manufacturers of trucks, its acquisition may help VW to better compete with these truck manufacturers like Daimler and Volvo.
Last week at VW’s new Director, and the Board of Directors approved a plan for major reforms proposed by the new head of the concern Herbert Discom.
Among these plans — preparation of VW Truck & Bus for an IPO, which could take place next year.
