Earthlings awaits a lunar Eclipse.
In the night sky on January 30-31, we will see the supermoon combined with a full lunar Eclipse and “blue Moon.”
The last time such a coincidence of astronomical phenomena was in 1866.
Separately, the supermoon (the moment of maximum approximation of the moon when the Moon appears 30% brighter and 14% larger in diameter than at apogee), the total Eclipse in which the Moon takes on a reddish hue, and “blue Moon” (second full moon in one calendar month) happen quite often, but on the same day when the current generation has never had.
The last time this combination of lunar phenomena were observed at the end of March in 1866. The next time the supermoon, the Eclipse with a red moon and a double full moon in one month will happen very soon – on 31 December 2028.
On Wednesday 31 January best of all, this phenomenon can be seen by the inhabitants of the Russian Far East, Asia, and Australia (in the evening at the beginning of the rising of the moon) and West coast USA (in the hours before dawn).
“Blue Moon” is the calendar incident, actually the color getting two full moons in one month does not affect. But the so-called blood Moon really looks reddish. This shade appears at the moment before the climax of the Eclipse, though not all observers will be able to see it.
, What color will the Moon for the observer, influenced by many factors – primarily the composition of the atmosphere and lighting in the place of observation, and, as experts say, to predict exactly impossible. Intense volcanic activity contributes to the fact that the Moon takes on a more crimson hue. This time, according to them, the Moon is likely to look orange diamond.
Winter supermoon 2018 is one of the brightest. On Wednesday, the natural satellite of the Earth will be from us at a distance of 358 993 km.
Stream lunar Eclipse on the NASA website will start on January 31 at 12:30 Kiev time.
