Turkey may abandon the purchase of Russian s-400, said in an interview, “Aksam” Turkish foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.
“We have agreed in principle on joint production in the medium and long term. Vladimir Putin himself told us that we can take steps to co-production. Therefore, technology will be relevant. But if Russia this is negative, we can conclude an agreement with another country,” he said.
The Minister stressed that Turkey must quickly solve this issue, because “there is a need” in the s-400. “We need to protect our airspace. However, if anti-Russian countries don’t want Turkey bought it With 400, then they must provide us with your own version,” said Mevlut Cavusoglu.
Moscow and Ankara have been in talks on deliveries of s-400 to Turkey since the restoration of relations in 2016. The plans of the Turkish authorities to buy air defense systems from Russia condemned the United States.
