People living here cannot live in the sun.
“The village vampire,” so sometimes called Brazilian village Araras, which is located in a picturesque location between the hills. For residents of Araras the sun is the worst enemy. They are forced to hide from the sun and leaving the house only at night, like the mythological vampires.
The fact that the inhabitants of this village suffer from extremely rare skin disease. This disease is called xeroderma pigmentosum. Their skin is like parchment, very thin and extremely sensitive to sunlight, she has no defense mechanisms. Ultraviolet radiation very strongly deforms the skin and sometimes it just “melts” away from the sun.
Araras is probably the only place on the planet which has such a large number of people suffering from this disease. Why almost the whole village is sick? The answer to the question can be found in the past. The fact that the village was founded by several related families, it resulted in a hereditary disease – parchment leather
Most of the villagers Araras wear a wide-brimmed hat, to somehow stop the progression of the disease. However, in most cases this is not enough. Many residents go out only at night. That’s why Araras sometimes called “village of the vampires”
Children in the village of Araras protect from the sun from birth, because nobody knows, when can appear the first symptoms of the disease.
The deformed skin and the tumor is not the only problems the villagers Araras. In addition to the parchment skin they have comorbidities that cause problems with hearing, muscle tone and coordination of movement. Also often slow. But the biggest problem is of course the sun.
