It is located in South Holland.
The Dutch city of Leiden is known as the birthplace of many scientists and the birthplace of the great painter Rembrandt. It seemed that the city was destined to live a past glory, but in the nineties, two residents made it one of the centers of modern culture, literally turning it into a giant book. They started writing on the walls poetry. The first was the poem of Marina Tsvetaeva.
Although the project of Ben Walenkamp and Jan Browns usually write something that is organized and thoughtful, it began almost spontaneously. Walenkamp loves poetry, sad it is the place which poetry pushed the rational Dutch in our time, and he decided to show the people of Leiden as a beautiful poetic lines. It is the line: poems on the idea of Ben, it was necessary to write exclusively in the language and alphabet of the original. Of course, when we are not talking about the Latin poetry produced on the Dutch impression of bizarre ornament. But it’s one of the faces of beauty: poems is a kind of pattern of words.

However, in the project for about half of the poems on the walls – the Dutch. In Russian – five. Tsvetaeva, Khlebnikov, Blok, Mandelstam, and Akhmatova.
The house, on which was written a poem Tsvetaeva was owned by a friend of Ben and Ian, and they easily received permission from his master, the owner of the bookstore. The effect shook all three of them. The shop began to enter the Russian tourists. At first they thought that the poem – is the Russian bookshop, then, realizing the mistake, admitted that the lines Tsvetaeva touched their heart strings. Some were in tears, although from themselves did not expect.

All the sponsors were going to decorate the walls of the city one hundred and one poem, trying to select those that describe the role of poetry and poets for humanity and souls. The last was supposed to be a poem by Federico Garcia Lorca. But residents asked to add a few more, and all rows were embellished with one hundred eleven walls. Yes, shortly after managed to arrange the poems on several homes, latency have started to offer post poems on their walls.
Interestingly, only one of the Russian poems is the transcription and translation on the Dutch – quatrain Khlebnikov. All other verses are presented with calculations solely for visual effect. However, every time there is a new poem in the local Newspapers immediately recognized and published, what it’s about whose and what language it is written. So latency now have an idea of the poetry of various countries, including, for example, Indonesian.

Each poem on the walls of Leiden is decorated in a special way, to emphasize how important it is for the poetry of uniqueness and individuality. I must say that after the project with poetry was finished, the authors are not left alone in the walls of Leiden. Now they adorn their physical formulas. Formulas are not only documented in different fonts – they add explanatory drawings. Now on the walls of Leiden that there are six equations: the formula of relativity from Einstein, the formula of the Lorentz force, the law of light refraction of Snellius, the formula of the Lorentz contraction, Oort constant and the electron spin.
