Stellar Ukrainian gymnast Oleg Verniaiev took only the eighth place in the all-around at the world Championships in Montreal.
In connection with the injury of the Olympic champion in Rio 2016 Cohea Alimuri the Vernaeve started in the all-around in the status of the main favorite for gold. Alas, an unfortunate error in the speech on the horse, horizontal bar and floor exercise are not allowed the Ukrainian to aim a blow at his first medal in the all-around at the world Cup.
The vernaeve showed the best score on rings (14,556 points), was second on bars (14,966) and ranked sixth in the vault (14,833). Other disciplines Oleg was waiting for 14th place on the horse, the 14-th result in the floor exercise and only 21st position on the crossbar.
In three disciplines the Vernaeve has lost at least a point that cost him a place on the podium.
Final results all-around:
1. Xiao Rooten (China) – 86,933 points
2. Chopan Lin (China) – 86,448
3. Kenzo Shirai (Japan) – 86,431
4. David Bielawski (Russia) – 86,315
5. Manrique Lardot (Cuba) – 86,031
8. Oleg Verniaiev (Ukraine) – 83,997
To make up for the result in the all-around Oleg Verniaiev October 7-8, will try in the finals in individual disciplines. Ukrainians will compete for medals on uneven bars and horse.
