The Vatican museums will open the doors after sunset

From April 26 to October 25, 2019 every Friday from 19:00 to 23:00 (last entry 21:30) the Papal museums open their doors to visitors after sunset, especially for those who want to relax from a hard day in a relaxed Museum atmosphere with panoramic views of the extraordinary treasures of the millennial collections of the Vatican.

You can visit, particularly the Museum of PIO Clementino, the Egyptian Museum, the Upper Gallery (where askanius candelabra, tapestries and maps), Raphael’s Stanzas, and some Stanzas Borgia and the Sistine chapel. As in previous years, the formal opening will be enriched with a variety of concerts and events dedicated to art (the program is available on the website www.museivaticani.va).

For evening visits (cost of the ticket is 21€; 12 € for visitors aged 6-18 years) obligatory online booking of tickets on the same website.

Evening opening of Vatican museums and the Sistine chapel is not the only initiative that the power of Rome planned for this summer: every Saturday a “Train the Pontifical Villas” (Treno delle Ville Pontificie), which departs from the ancient Vatican station and arrives at the station of Castel Gandolfo and Albano Laziale. Finally, in may, June, September and October, the Pontifical Villas of Castel Gandolfo welcome the visitors and tourists, even on Sundays.
