Твердотельные батареи на 800 км хода с зарядкой за 1 мин патентует Fisker

Recently a number of companies announced the development of breakthrough technologies in the field of batteries. Among them are the eminent manufacturers, such as Toshiba and less known startups like Enevate or StoreDot, which promises ultra-fast charging in minutes. The last in this series was Fisker, announced the creation of a solid-state lithium-ion batteries of new type, which is scheduled to start producing in an industrial scale by 2023.

Although Fisker is a small car company, which is currently at the hearing, mainly due to its new electric car EMotion, there are substantial grounds to believe that it will be able to translate their plans into reality. One of the team members of new batteries (now patientwise) at the time was a co-founder of Sakti3, a company that was at the forefront of research in the field of solid-state technology in 2011. This company was acquired by Dyson, a British manufacturer of vacuum cleaners, which also plans to produce electric cars and, according to AutoExpress plans to introduce solid-state batteries by 2020. In addition, the Japanese Toyota also expects to start production of batteries of this type to 2022.

The reason why all of these companies undertook the development of solid state batteries is that they provide a number of advantages compared to that used in modern gadgets and cars. In addition to higher reliability and security, two key advantages are high energy density and quick charging time. According to Fisker, the new battery will have the energy density 2.5 times higher than the existing counterparts. Thus its capacity will provide a range of electromobile about 800 km away and charge it fully it will be possible in just a minute.

Fisker announced that the new battery technology will be shown in January at CES 2018 in Las Vegas. There will also be presented pre-production version of the electric vehicle sports EMotion, which is used in conventional lithium-ion batteries from LG Chem. However, and this car was quite impressive specifications. So, its power reserve will be about 650 km, and load battery in the 200 km of tracks will be possible in 9 minutes. The cost of the electric car will be about 130,000 dollars. The company has now started accepting pre-orders (reservations will cost $ 2,000) on your car, the output of a series of which is scheduled for 2019.
