The world is full of abandoned and unfinished buildings. And they are always attracted its mystery.

Sometimes happened so that was abandoned skyscrapers. The reasons for that are many: economic crises, political instability, or just poor quality work.

“The tower is NOT”, Poland

Skyscraper “the Tower is NOT”, which is informally called the poles “Skeletor”, was built as the regional headquarters of the Polish Federation of engineering associations, or NOT in Polish. The Baker Hotel, Texas

In the early twentieth century, the residents of the city of Mineral wells assess the ability of the mineral springs of the region. Construction of 14-storey hotel with 400 rooms and two ballrooms started in 1926 and lasted three years. In 30 years the town was very popular among vacationers. Later, however, the flow of people began to decline, the hotel has closed/opened. In the end, it closed for good. Right now it is a monument of architecture and are working on restoration. But slowly.

5-storey building Pécsi magasház, PECs, Hungary

The tallest abandoned building in Central Europe is a residential 25-storey, 84-metre building Pécsi magasház (high-rise building Furnace). The construction of the house ended in 1976, and the Builder has provided apartments for 800 residents. They lived in the house a little more than 10 years, and then he began to collapse. The Sathorn Unique Skyscraper, Thailand

In the mid 90-ies of Thailand experienced a boom in economic development, and local architects, thinking about the prospects, decided to build skyscrapers. In 1997, the country has a crisis, so the construction of some buildings was stopped, including the 49-storey Sathorn Unique skyscraper, Bangkok. Now to go to the building with 659 apartments and 54 trading platforms is prohibited. The building still stands, and its walls are decorated with advertising posters.

Tower Of Abraham Lincoln, Brazil

In the 60-ies, when Brazil experienced an upswing appeared ambitious plans, namely to construct 76 residential towers with luxury apartments in Rio de Janeiro Barra da Tijuca. The first two buildings called “Towers of Abraham Lincoln.” Construction of a 37-storey buildings began in 1969, but lack of funds and materials in 1972 slowed down the project.

Finding no way out, the developer decided to apply for financial support to individual investors, promising price reduction when buying a home, but for 40 years the buildings are completely empty. There were two attempts to pay attention to the skyscrapers. The first 300 people occupied the building for a month, until they were expelled by the police. In 2010, Dutch artists initiated a project called “Occupation of Paradise”, creating a mini-copy of the abandoned skyscrapers, to draw public attention to the isolation and social injustice.

Tower Plaza, USA

This 45-storey design with the tip, resembling a mushroom cap, said about the era of modern skyscrapers in New Orleans. Since 2002, the building stands abandoned.

The construction of the Plaza immediately ran into some bad luck. So in 1966, was suddenly suspended for two years. And 1984, half-residential building converted to commercial. 2001, tenants filed several lawsuits to owners of the tower for inaction. In 2002, offices were evacuated and the entrance to the tower is closed.

Abandoned tower Beech, Detroit, USA

In the early XX century, a millionaire from Detroit James Burgess Beech Jr. decided to overhaul the city’s historical district. The reconstruction was carried out by the architect Louis Kamper. First built 13-storey office building in the Italian Renaissance style, which was named “building of the Beech”. Later buck and his brothers decided to build something big. In 1926 the building of the Beech build 38-storey tower, and it was the highest in the city. The building is crowned by a copper roof, and the walls are decorated with sculptures of caryatids, which was once called the wives of the 12 apostles.

Thank brothers Beeches was not long. In 1928 the city had built a 47-story building. Wanting to return to the building the title of the most high, they decided to build an 81-storey building across from Beech. But in 1929 came the Great depression, and the plan was never realised. Later amazing building passed from one owner to another and changed their appearance. In 2013 there were plans of renovation of the building, but the details are still unknown.
