The fact that earlier it was Telma large village on the left Bank of the Angara river, founded in 1660. Telma village was located about a hundred kilometers from the city of Irkutsk and served as a kind of transit point and destination on the way there. The village was straight and wide streets, numerous stone houses, so it was more like a small Siberian town.
To bring raw materials and to export finished products, as well as to provide the population with food and other goods needed many horses. Imagine how many there were horses ? For their service in the village was equipped with 12 forges !
Even in the nineteenth century it was not just a village, but a real industrial center of Usolsky district of Irkutsk region. Therefore, for many of those years the population was represented by Industrialists and traders, salesmen, craftsmen, professionals and many workers, and, of course, all the sovereign’s servants.
In General, it is not surprising that the local rich people and residents want to have a great Church, there to fit more people, and the fame of his glory was all over Siberia.
Stone Church in Telma began to build 9 Jun 1814 on the highest place of the village to be seen from afar. But already on 20 August 1816, the Church was consecrated in the name of the Kazan icon of the Mother of God and began the service.
Given the fierce Siberian winter for the first time in the Church service in winter was conducted. But in 1843, in her basement, put two brick ovens and services are year-round.
Known in those years, the historian P. A. Slovtsov, having been in the area, predicted: “This house appreciated… as the last device factory, will long remain in Siberia only.”
