The death of a Russian pilot in a statement

К гибели российского пилота причастна Турция

In Syria, again, was shot down by Russian military aircraft, and the pilot was killed on the ground in the battle with the Islamists. Two years ago, our bombers were attacked by Turkish fighter. A year ago in the same place, over Idlib, collapsed shot down from the ground the helicopter. Now the plane was attacked by the Turks, but the militants, which supports and supplies weapons to Turkey.

In North-Western Syria at the same time two military operations: the Syrian army supported by the Russian aviation finishes Islamists Idlib and the Turkish army attacks Kurdish Canton of Afrin.

A small Russian contingent stationed in the Afrin, as we know, was derived from there.

In a sense, there was an exchange: the Turks put up with the imminent defeat of their friendly Islamist groups, and in return they are given a score to settle with the Kurdish workers ‘ party, made his base Afrin.

Some colleagues predicted that as a result of this combination, we will see indirect and direct armed confrontation between two NATO members invading Syrian Kurdistan of Turkey and support the Kurds, the US. However, so far we have seen the tragic footage of the heroic death of the Russian pilot.

Turkey is an ally is questionable. And for Syria, and Russia.

During the war the Turks had actively supported the armed opposition, with their territory was supplied to the ISIL, in return, received oil.

Turkey was forced to close his eyes to the extermination of the Pro-Turkish militants in the North of Latakia province and around Aleppo. The rest of the Islamists have taken to the Syrian border province of Idlib, where they had organized a kind of reservation.

There was a good chance that it will remain under Turkish control, but now Damascus has reached his hands up and surrendered to the rebels the province.

There are several groups with confusing Arab names. The man who not only is versed in the subject, it is difficult to understand the diversity of “jabhatul and Geis”.

In the West it is customary to divide the militants “moderate” (associated mostly with the Free Syrian army) and “terrorists” (the largest of them in this region, “al-Nusra”, which is considered to be a branch of “al-Qaeda”).

In reality, the movement consists of hundreds of small detachments, which, if necessary combined into larger network structures under these or other brands. The main function of these structures – supply and distribution of weapons and ammunition to militant groups, and replenishment of personnel.

Once again, Idlib bordering Turkey, which means that all the supply of existing groups is fully on the conscience of the Turks. And it means MANPADS, which was shot down by a Russian aircraft, could fall into Idlib from Turkey.

The provision goes there systematically, because at the moment the same group, in coordination with the Turkish army advancing into Kurdish Afrin.

These groups participated in the Turkish operation “shield of the Euphrates”, occupied the Syrian town of al-Bab and stopped trying to join the two other Kurdish cantons of Kobani and Jazeera, Afrin. At the moment El-Bab remained under the Turkish administration, the same prospect awaited and Idlib, and now Affleck.

Fears are not far-fetched: Ankara already has experience of the annexation of Syrian territory in the thirties, Turkey has annexed the territory of Northern Syria, where half of the population were ethnic Turks. Now she is known as Turkish administrative unit – Il of Hatay.

From Russia with Turkey is also a long and uneasy history of relations. And with such an ally would cost to insure. The best way to keep Turkish pressure is, again, the Kurds.

On the one hand, the aggression of the Turks against the Kurds can understand Syrian Kurdistan “Rozhava” – rear base of the guerrilla units of the Kurdistan workers party, which leads with the Turkish government armed struggle and declared a terrorist organization. In the mountain regions has an extensive network of guerrilla groups.

Among the Syrian Kurds of the PKK extremely popular. The leader of the party Abdullah Ocalan is serving a life sentence in a Turkish prison, but his cause lives on – in almost every Kurdish house where I’ve been, on the wall hung a portrait of him.

In Syria for decades the Kurds have been discriminated against. The Syrians consider them alien people – descendants of refugees from other areas and speak very disparagingly.

The passports were not given education in Kurdish was not, they say that even industrial enterprises in the areas of their settlement tried to build.

At the beginning of the Civil war in Syria in Afrin and Qamishli came Kurdish fighters from Turkish territory, organized self-defense units, which very well proved in battle with the Islamists. Moreover, before the final stage of the war they had no serious external support.

So at the end of the war special attitude, the Kurds deserve it. Special – in terms of administrative structure.

Initially, all the Syrian Kurds of the PKK tended to Russians identify Russia with the Soviet Union, about which like to say that Kurdistan was the sixteenth Republic.

At the beginning of the Russian operation was a successful joint action, but then it stopped. The Russian command did not want to irritate the Damascus, or failed to decide on negotiating positions.

The Kurds were not offered a clear picture of the future device, or cultural autonomy or local self-government. Only the return of the Syrian administration with all its officials and security forces, which dislike even the Arabs themselves.

In the end, the Kurds agreed on entering into a coalition with the United States. At least for air cover and logistics. Plus, surely those of them expressed assurances of support of independence.

Americans support the Kurdish leftists, nostalgic for the Soviet Union, should not surprise anyone.

First, public opinion in the United States and the West in General are impressed by the Kurdish militaristic feminism, secular and network principles of organization of social life, in opposition to religious fanaticism and authoritarianism, is considered typical for the East.

But, of course, not only that. Americans try to support the movements that are now on the rise. Purely practical motives – to use them for their own purposes. Whether it’s Islamists, ISIL or the Kurdish left – and no matter what potential allies to each other do not stand on the spirit.

Russian, too, should like to learn from such pragmatism.

Huge and capable of Kurdistan could be an effective deterrent tool against the growing weight of Turkey.

It would be nice this tool is not to let go of, even when the negotiations about the gas pipeline through Turkish territory and other commercial projects.

The Turks somehow manage not ceasing cooperation with Moscow, to throw in Idlib portable missile systems.
