New Dongfeng AX7 will try to catch up with Geely Atlas and Haval H6.
China has held the official premiere of the radically transformed “SUV” DF. It is expected that the domestic market model will be released before the end of this year.
Crossover AX7 release in 2014, it is built on a “truck” with borrowings from Honda CR-V the previous generations. Front of “Chinese” – front McPherson, rear – mnogoryichazhka. On the platform of the new Dongfeng AX7 in silence, it is probably the same. The second crossover is shorter and lower than its predecessor – the length is reduced by 51 mm to 4 645 mm, height reduced to 1 690 mm (-22 mm). Width of product is 1 880 mm, 30 mm more compared with the previous AX7, wheelbase – 2 715 mm (+3 mm).
All body panels is a new cross received led optics and rear lights are now connected led the same jumper. The interior is also completely redesigned: there is a new front panel, “truncated” steering wheel, a digital “tidy” and a modern multimedia system with voice control.
The equipment list also includes: panoramic roof, 18-inch wheels, camera circular review, avtoparkova, seats electrically adjustable, heated and memory settings, system retention in the lanes, automatic emergency braking and preventing the front collision, the monitoring system “blind” zones.
The engines from the AX7 did not change: in China, the crossover is available with petrol “turbochetverkami” 1.4 (140 or 150 HP) and 1.6 (167 HP). The first motor – house development of Dongfeng, the second – from the PSA group (Chinese company owns shares in French auto giant). The base engine is combined with five-speed “mechanics” or six-speed automatic transmission, the 1.6 engine is paired with 6АКП. Drive – only the front.
Prices of the new Dongfeng AX7 yet to be announced, the predecessor is from 89 800 yuan is about $13 200 at the current exchange rate.
The main rivals of the crossover Dongfeng considered Haval H6 and the Geely Boyue (Atlas). The first “SUV” in China will cost at least 800 98 yuan ($14 500), the second is from 103 000 yuan ($15 100). To catch up with competitors AX7 is, to put it mildly, is not easy: last year, the crossover Dongfeng first generation sold in China with a circulation of 40 534 instance, while Geely Boyue in 2017 gained 286 163 owners, and sales volume of Haval H6 was 505 944 (the most popular SUV of the country).
