The carrier, which no one carries

The carrier (lat. Actitis hypoleucos), which belong to the order Charadriiformes and the family Beketovyh – perhaps one of the most common waders. That contributes to its spread from the Western borders of the Eurasian continent to the East coast, including Kamchatka, Kuril Islands, etc. These small middle of nowhere the size of a lark got me into the lens repeatedly, but to remove more or less quality was dark, the instance across intractable, in General, as in the case of a bad dancer. However, in June I went through one of the secret river RV that runs on the Karelian isthmus, and met one very brave a couple of carriers. In fact, their courage had a good reason, hidden in the grass.

So, I hastily took off them for a few minutes and retreated. Even though the day was very overcast, and the surrounding old forest increased the shadow a chance to use certainly. First, because carriers are very much confrontational, guarding the nest, and second, because the entourage in swift forest streams and large boulders, covered with beautiful moss, promised to give the images a little artistry.

Carrier – Perlina bird, and how it breeds, as he is widely and winters from the Mediterranean to South Africa. In coloration the males and females are clear deformity not observed, but removed by me two copies one was a little more contrast. I think it was a male.

I must say that these waders feeding in the shallow waters of the various ponds, even able to dive to a depth of one meter. In my case they are very successfully combined the function of protection of the nest looking for food.

Rather I would say I caught a couple more for hunting, and not drove the female off the perch from which I conclude that carriers at some time leave the nest for a delicious dinner. By the way, the incubation period involved both parents.

A few years ago, I once watched quite an unusual picture, a pair of carriers for some reason, decided to translate your newborn brood over the railway away from the waterfront, putting the lives of juveniles at risk is obvious : Chicks can’t jump high rails and circling them, leaping awkwardly, and adjacent to the trees are already gathered several hooded crows, a black case which make only prevented my presence.

In short, perilous life of the carrier, especially while it is small.
