Here is everything you need for life.
The customer of a private home with an area of 126 square meters in Japan, designed by Studio APOLLO Architects & Associates, is the owner of a large collection of works of art. So he wanted to start a new Chapter in their family life in the residence with characteristics that make it similar to the Museum.
The architects proposed one-storey reinforced concrete structure, whose exterior and interior differ monochromatic color scheme, which creates a perfect background for works of art. Construction and finishing materials were selected carefully and kept to a minimum, giving the premises a strict one.
The extremely simple layout of the house includes a living room combined with dining room, overlooking the inner courtyard and the master bedroom, children’s room and a bathroom, occupying the wings on either side of the atrium. On the one hand, this symmetry corresponds to the style of Western architecture, and on the other, the symmetry is broken by the inclusion of stairs and one internal courtyard that meets the canons of classical Japanese aesthetics.
Coffered ceiling living room, representing a grid with squares of size 1.2 meters — so the project got the name Grid — refers to the architecture of Shinto temples and residential buildings in the traditional Japanese style sukiya. In addition to the functional design task is to support the weight of the roof, the ceiling transforms the building itself into a work of art, executed in a minimalist style.
