Thailand wants green light from China to use high-speed train to deliver durian fruits

The Thai government has asked China for permission to transport durian on the High-Speed Train to Kunming without being stopped midway for Covid checks. Deputy Government spokeswoman Rachada Dhnadirek said that at a recent meeting, the Thai side proposed to China that Thai fruits and durians should be allowed to be transported on the high-speed train and that the freight containers at the Laos railway station should remain closed.

On the Thai side, China was requested to exempt the Thai fruit from a new control at the Mohan border gate and instead allow it to be transported non-stop to the destination station in Kunming.

The government spokeswoman stated that Thailand expects the request to be approved, and that transportation could start this month.
