The Thai Ministry of Commerce set the target for fresh and processed fruit exports at 4.44 million tonnes, up 10% from the previous year. It is mainly aimed at durian.

Under the 2023 fruit management and export plan reported to the prime minister, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Agriculture and cooperatives and other relevant bodies from both the public and private sectors worked together to take a total of 22 proactive measures.

These measures will help to solve the problem of fruit prices and the shortage of quantities, as well as to achieve export targets. They cover four aspects, namely cultivation, domestic marketing, the search for new markets abroad, and negotiations with trading partners to minimize export barriers to fruit.
