Десять самых противоречивых экспериментов в истории науки. ФотоControversial research from a moral point of view.

Scientific experiments are creepy. Some because they were violent, others because it turns out something very unpleasant about people. One way or another, but sometimes scientists are really behind the curve. In this review, the most terrible experiments which has ever faced humanity.

1. The study of schizophrenia UCLA

When researchers allowed to test on patients-schizophrenics unusual medicine, the condition was that you need to stop the study and return patients to the clinic if their symptoms much worse. Apparently, the term “significantly” is very subjective. One patient threatened to kill their parents, and the other jumped off the roof of the building.

2. Experiment with the color of the eyes

After the assassination of Martin Luther king, a school teacher named Jane Elliot decided to demonstrate to his students what discrimination. She divided the students into two groups — blue-eyed and brown-eyed. She then told the class that blue-eyed learn much better and provided them with some benefits (more food at lunch, longer changes, etc.). The results of this “experiment” was amazing — brown-eyed children really began to learn worse.

Milton Rokich conducted a study in which he brought together three psychiatric patients, each of which is claimed to be a God. First, these people started to argue about who of them the real Christ, and it came almost to blows. But after some time each of them began to believe that the other two are madmen.

It was a notorious Soviet research center, where people were exposed to strong toxic substances. For example, according to the records, one of the poisons (K-2) led to the fact that the victim is actually like physically reduced in size, and then died in a few minutes. While K-2 it was impossible to detect in the body. Rumor has it that the Camera was opened again in the 90-ies.

5. Project MK-ULTRA

The purpose of the CIA was a test to see how mind control can be used for military purposes. During the experiments, prostitutes and patients with mental disorders was introduced a few months the chemicals and constantly forced to listen to certain records in order to “change their identity”.

6. Free will

The experiments of Benjamin Libet showed that all the decisions people are preceded by subliminal factors in the brain that affect the outcome of their decisions. Although so far the results of the experiments are controversial, that the concept of “free will” is an illusion.

7. Twin studies Mengele

Dr. Mengele is a perfect example of “evil scientist”. Nazi researcher often experimented on twins. After all, it gave him the opportunity to perform all kinds of crazy experiments on one man with another “identical” as a control sample.

Nazi experiments with freezing.

But again, the word “creepy” does not even fully reflect the situation. Much of what people today know about the conditions of hypothermia, was actually discovered in the course of Nazi medical experiments. During which prisoners were submerged in icy water for various lengths of time. After that they put outside in the cold.

The drug tested on monkeys.

In 1969, Deno, Yanagita and Sivers did experiments on the effect of drugs on animals, giving drugs to monkeys (all… from cocaine to alcohol). Animals often become completely insane. Some of them tore off his fingers or pulled out all my hair.

The Project “Disgust”.

Again, the following experiment even “creepy” will not be called. During the 1970 – 1980s years, the military in South Africa was trying to prevent homosexuality among recruits in the army through castration and other such “humane” methods. The psychiatrist who oversaw the experiments, Dr. Aubrey Levin, then moved to Canada, where he practiced until recently (he was convicted of sexual assault).
