Landfills Haiti to feed slum-dwellers
For tourists Haiti may seem like Paradise with its white Sands and clear water, but the life of the local, cooped up in slums, near garbage dumps, more like a report from hell.
Families huddled in shanties of rubbish and sticks, getting the food and gear in landfills in the neighborhood. Sometimes, when luck favors hunters for the garbage they bring home the ham, cheese, milk, rice, bread, wine, toys and even champagne. If you come across a halfway decent thing they sell it.
After a long day at the dump slum dwellers are resting, drinking, Smoking and dancing to the radio.
