Сибирские ученые вдвое ускорили рост деревьев

New development of researchers from Siberian Federal University located in Krasnoyarsk, allows to quickly “heal” anthropogenically affected land and plant trees and shrubs in streets, gardens, parks and suburban areas.

Scientists were able to create the biomat – an artificial soil, which is based on a natural fiber. To give it strength, it is impregnated with a special inert composition based on polyvinyl acetate. Then the fiber is applied “organic fillers of biologically active additives and binders of natural origin”.

Graduate of the Institute of ecology and geography, SFU Alena Burova, which is one of the study’s authors, said that the biomat does not harm the soil. On the contrary, in 4-5 years it will completely decompose, becoming part of the soil humus. This contributes to accelerated development of plants.

To verify the effectiveness of artificial soil scientists are planted pine. Biomat planted trees for six months has grown twice faster than ordinary pines in the ground.
