Ученые рассказали о вкусе воды на МарсеThe researchers used data from the Curiosity Rover.

The Gale crater located on Mars helped scientists to determine, what was the taste of the water on this planet in the past.

In particular, they found that due to its composition the water was very unpleasant.

Curiosity Rover helped to determine that the Gale crater was previously completely filled with water. After conducting the necessary research, scientists were able to establish that the mineral striations in the crater was formed due to the evaporation of the liquid. Using the information received from the Rover, scientists were able to determine its composition. Thus they learned that the ancient water on Mars was very different from the one that is on planet Earth.

A large number of sulphate and sodium in the Martian water could be unpalatable. Compared with ordinary bottled water, their content exceeds usual indicators in 20 times. Therefore, we can conclude that the fluid smelled and was bitter.
