In the desert the geoglyphs depicts

Japanese researchers conducted a detailed analysis of the famous images in the Nazca desert, and came to conclusions that differ from earlier, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to UNIAN.

The figures represent a huge geometrical and figural geoglyphs. The images in the Nazca and Palpa plateau is located at a distance of about 400 kilometers South of Peru’s capital of Lima.

Together they form the region, covering approximately 450 square kilometers. The figures were carved between 400 BC and 1000 years BC the authors were people who lived before the Inca: presumably, representatives of the Nazca culture. Drawings include lines, geometric shapes and images of animals and plants.

Previously, scientists discerned and partially identified approximately 30 drawings, among which images of birds, flowers, spider, dogs, monkeys, and even some humanoid “astronaut”.

To view the pictures only on aerial photographs, so the Japanese scientists used a bird approaches to identify 16 of the geoglyphs of birds.

Says Masaki EDA of Hokkaido University Museum, up to this point is depicted in the pictures of birds identified using General impressions or more morphological features.

A more precise analysis of the beak, head, neck, wings and tail allowed more detail to establish their belonging to one or another form. Re-analysis showed that “Hummingbird” is probably thrush hermit. Several images represent likely image of pelicans.

Other drawings of birds, which previously was considered a “Condor” or “Flamingo” as researchers found, had distinct characteristics of these birds, but they do not correspond to the living creatures that dwell in Peru.

Says Masaki EDA, representatives of the Nazca culture could also watch the pelicans while collecting food on the coast. Increased attention to exotic for these people to birds, according to scientists, could be key to solving some of the issues relevant to modern historians.
