Scientists had thought that Medusa really able to sleep. The problem is that the sleep process requires heavy brain processes, and these creatures have not.

Despite this, recent studies have shown that the jellyfish Cassiopea became the first known animal that is able to sleep, while not having a brain. It turned out that the dream deeply rooted in our biology and behavior that has developed in the early stages of the life history of animals and has become commonplace.

So even despite the fact that sleeping animals can be hazardous (in particular, they are vulnerable to attacks by other creatures), it is still important to them. Indeed, as the scientists explain, if sleep was not needed, that animals would evolve, learning not to sleep. However, studies have repeatedly shown that animals deprived of sleep for a very long time, eventually die.
