Astronomers from Lund University (Sweden) has called the conditions for the existence of extrasolar planets-giants, the fulfillment of which will ensure the survival of earth-like celestial bodies.

The study is published on the website arXiv.org.

Scientists are of the opinion that silhouette trajectories of several giant planets can change the orbit of a potentially habitable rocky planets. In their study, the astronomers have listed the conditions for this.

The most stable is the system of the four extrasolar planets-giants of different masses. An example can be observed in the Solar system, where Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune are in a stable condition and do not disturb the terrestrial planets.

If the giants three, the system is dynamically unstable. This leads to the fact that large extrasolar planets can perturb the orbits of earth-like movements of celestial bodies and, consequently, to make the conditions for them uninhabitable.

The simulations show that exoplanets are giants, trajectories which are eccentricity (the parameter of elongation of the trajectory) is greater than 0.4, are present usually only in the system with three large planets, in which the presence of the inner rocky celestial bodies is unlikely.

The increase in semimajor axis and the eccentricity decrease leads to a reduction of this parameter and, as a result, the growth conditions for the emergence of life on potentially suitable for this inner rocky planets.
