Scientists have found the true ancestors of man

The ancestors of humans repeatedly left Africa before settling in Europe.

A group of scientists from the max Planck Institute and the University of Hawaii at Manoa came to the conclusion that the ancient Homo sapiens several times left Africa and mixed with other hominids. New paleontological findings forced to reconsider the classical conception in the framework of the hypothesis of African origin of man, according to which people evolved on the continent and 60 thousand years ago in a migration wave spread across the planet. Article researchers published in the journal Science.

The new findings were made in the light of new data obtained from the analysis of archaic DNA, and ancient fossils of H. sapiens that have been found in South-East Asia. Human remains, whose age is 70-120 thousand years, was discovered in South and Central China. The results of recent genetic studies showed that two percent of the genome of the natives of Papua New Guinea inherited from ancestors, who left Africa before 60 thousand years ago.

On the other hand, from the results of the complete decoding of genomes it is known that all non-African modern human populations split from ancestors who lived on the continent during the late Pleistocene. Scientists believe that this contradiction is due to the fact that even before the main waves of migration that occurred 60 thousand years ago people migrated from Africa to Eurasia in small groups.

Early settlers mixed with other ancient hominids — Neanderthals, denisovans, and another unidentified species. So, the genome of almost all modern type involves 1-4 percent Neanderthal DNA, and the Melanesians five per cent of the DNA inherited from the denisovans. According to recent scientific data, the crossing could begin in the period of time from 40 to approximately 200 thousand years ago.

According to the authors, well-established definition of the hypothesis of people from Africa, according to which the ancestors of all modern humans moved from the dark continent 60 thousand years ago and supplanted the indigenous inhabitants of Eurasia can no longer be considered valid.
