An international group of scientists has discovered an exoplanet with high iron content in the atmosphere. Gas giant KELT-9b because of its close proximity to the parent star has an extremely high temperature, which allows to vaporize the metal.

It is known that the temperature of KELT-9b, which is removed from the Earth at 620 light-years, reaches up to 4300 degrees Celsius (surface temperature of Sun is about 6000 degrees Celsius). The planet makes a revolution around the parent star HD 195689 less than 36 hours, due to the small distance between the two objects. It is known that the atmosphere of KELT-9b consists mainly of hydrogen.
According to astronomers, the high temperature of the atmosphere not only contributes to the evaporation of metals, but also prevents their condensation. That is KELT-9b has a metal clouds, but the atmosphere is filled with pairs of ions and neutral atoms of iron and titanium.
