Scientists believe that there are numerous reasons the effects of stress on the appearance of cancer.

Japanese scientists recently found that constantly experiencing stress, people (especially men) the risk of cancer is 11% higher compared to people who feel consistently low stress levels. The journal Live Science published the data obtained by specialists of the cancer Institute of the USA and proving that chronic stress can actually launch the processes leading to the emergence of cancer. As writes the edition, the relationship between stress and cancer provide “a variety of biological reasons”.

According to the researchers, the acute short-lived stress is often necessary for the body, which is thus trained to respond to dangerous moments. But chronic stress, in which there is constant severe anxiety, psychological depression, fatigue, may lead to negative changes in the body. Scientists claim that this is “broken” metabolism, and the level of certain hormones is constantly high, and the length of the end parts of chromosomes (telomere) shortens. Today science is already well known that the shortening of telomeres increases the risk of disease and early death.

In addition, chronic stress triggers the activation of inflammatory processes and weakening of the immune system. This, in turn, can also affect the occurrence and development of cancer, confirmed the study’s authors.

At the same time Live Science published a scientific opinion on what to speak about stress as the unconditional instigator of cancer is still early. Professor ELISA Bandera of the Rutgers cancer Institute of new Jersey said that although in recent years there is growing evidence about the impact of chronic stress on the risk of cancer through the violation of immune regulation, this relationship is still not officially existing.

“The evidence connects stress with survival of cancer patients, not risk them,” – said the scientist.

However, all the experts agree on a common opinion that the reduction in stress levels improves the quality and life expectancy of people, both healthy and with some diseases.
