Most gas exoplanets close to host stars and belonging to the class of “hot Jupiters” with the mass of Jupiter or Saturn, but more of their diameter.

Scientists analyzed data collected by space telescope Kepler, which was able to detect two gas exoplanets — K2-and K2 132-97. They revolve around a red giant with a period of nine days, have the same mass and radius. The size of the planet Jupiter more than 30 percent, although the bulk of them in half.

The results showed that the planets absorb large amounts of heat from the star. This energy is transferred from the outer layers K2 and K2 132-97 in their bowels, which contributed to inflating the atmosphere and reduce its density.

According to scientists, in 4-5 billion years the Sun will become a red giant that will change the physical characteristics of the gas planets in the Solar system. They also can grow in size and become less dense.
