Scientists say that the older children in the family drive the car not so gently, as a Junior. They exceed the speed limit, pass red lights and cause more accidents.

Privilege Car Insurance researched about 2000 families in five years, trying to compare the driving habits of brothers and sisters.

It turned out that the senior violated much more often than younger family members.

89% of older children had regularly exceeded the speed, and 47% clipped other drivers on the road, and 46% were driving on a dividing strip, 35% of them the police had repeatedly fined for violations of the rules. 17% of the older sisters put their makeup on while driving, and 30% of firstborns were talking on the phone or reading the newspaper.

First-borns are also more likely to have an accident: 20% had a few minor incidents, 11% — have been in serious trouble. For comparison, among middle children, such cases were 15% and 7%, respectively, while younger and less — 13% and 4%.

81% of older brothers and sisters always came on flashing yellow and 27% were ready to catch the red.

Interestingly, adherence to driving etiquette on the road is also depended on seniority.

More than 28 percent of younger family members prefer to coordinate their behavior with other members of the movement, but 18 % of senior said that tend to cut and break if they’ve got a valid excuse.
