Scientists from the UK and Norway claim that certain foods stimulate the body to include an active process of autophagy, through which is protected against several diseases, including cancer.
In particular, said experts, their use helps to prevent colon cancer, irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
Autophagy is a self-deliverance of the body from the damaged elements of the cells, which can become the basis for the development of the tumor. The study authors found that autophagy activates natural compounds found in foods such as pomegranates, red grapes, pears, mushrooms, lentils, soybeans and green peas.
“Their use activates the body’s resources in the fight against inflammatory processes and alleviates the symptoms of intestinal diseases,” say the authors of the study.
