Россия с 1 августа закрывает транзит иностранцев из Белоруссии

On the Russian site Logirus, who writes about logistics in Russia: August 1, stops the passage of citizens of third countries through the Belarusian-Russian border. This decision affects revenues from the transit of Belarus.

The reason for this decision was the Russian law “On the state border of the Russian Federation”. According to him, all categories of foreign citizens can arrive to Russia or to depart from it through multilateral/bilateral border crossing points open for international traffic. On the Russian-Belarusian border there were none. So to cross it by vehicle can only citizens of Russia or Belarus.

Logirus asked for comments in the Moscow representation of the International road transport Union and the Belarusian Association of international carriers. These institutions said that official reports on this subject, they have not yet seen.

And the foreign Ministry of Belarus confirmed that the Russian side had indeed received the relevant notification. Publication about this informed the head of foreign trade Department at LLC “Grodnograzhdanproekt” Andrew Rapacki. The restrictions will apply only to individuals and is not affected by the transport company.

The result of this decision the transport from the Polish, Lithuanian and Ukrainian drivers will be forced to go around Belarus through Latvia and Ukraine. It’s kind of a punishment of Belarus for the decision to allow visa-free entry of foreigners into the country, experts say.
