Short circuit at the Kalinin nuclear power plant and the shutdown of three nuclear units were caused by electrical insulations. About it reports “Interfax” with reference to the RTN.
The accident happened on the territory of the Central Department of Rostechnadzor. The short circuit occurred in the early morning on one of the transformers, the outdoor switchgear (ORU) of a nuclear power station. Disconnected high-voltage transmission lines “Belozerskaya” (750 kV) and “Experienced” (750 kV), this resulted in a network outage of power generating units No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4. They gradually returned to work within two days. It was reported that the crash did not affect power supply to customers in the Tver region.
Kalinin NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom. It is located in the North of the Tver region in udomelsky district. In the composition of the Kalinin nuclear power station four power units with water-cooled power reactors (VVER-1000) with an installed capacity of 1000 MW each.
