The Romanian Prosecutor’s office has charged a group of oncologists charges of receiving bribes from pharmaceutical companies for what the doctors prescribed their patients a generic drugs manufactured by the firm.

As they say in the message of anti-corruption Agency, the company paid 77 oncologists stay with families in India in March 2012. It was disguised as a trip to the Congress for breast cancer in Bangalore. In fact, the accused and their families lived in hotels in Delhi two thousand miles from the venue of the scientific forum.

According to prosecutors, the company has spent on Romanian oncologists 520 thousand euros, of which 417 thousand can be considered bribes.

During the investigation in July 2015 were searched for 61 an address in Bucharest and other places. Under suspicion initially were 82 people.

In the message of anti-corruption Agency says that the company’s management has gone to corruption of the Romanian group of oncologists to gain a foothold in the market of drugs against cancer, which is characterized by high competition. Doctors had to prescribe to their patients drugs-generics at doses greater than allowed by law.
