The ex-President of Romania, Traian Basescu, will present for approval to the Parliament a Declaration about the denunciation of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, which, according to him, led to the transfer of the territory of Moldova into the Soviet Union.
It is reported by the Moldovan Internet portal “the Notebook”.
“I, as President (in Romania it is a lifetime title — approx. PB), condemn the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. And intends next week to submit to the Romanian Parliament a draft Declaration, signed by me and other members of Parliament, on the denunciation of the Pact and its consequences. We must do it” — a statement Basescu made in an interview with Romanian television.
“The three Baltic States seceded from the Soviet Union and became independent members of the EU and NATO, Poland became a state integrated into the EU and NATO. And Romania lost Bessarabia and after the collapse of the Union, nothing has changed, all that remained,” says Basescu.
Last year, the Romanian politician was elected honorary Chairman of the Moldovan Party of national unity, established in Chisinau in order to promote the ideas of the unionists (the so-called supporters of unification with Romania — approx. WR.)
