Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said that the country’s external debt has reached unmanageable amount. He declared it on air of TV channel “inter”, reports RIA Novosti.
“We have a very large external debts. Only this year for their service we need to pay 130 billion. This is an exorbitant figure,” he said. The politician added that he hoped the country’s economic growth, which will allow Kiev to reduce the amount of borrowing.
In January 2018 Ukrainian authorities said that Ukraine’s debt to the International monetary Fund (IMF) is 12.1 billion dollars. According to the data of Ukrainian Ministry of Finance as of February the country’s public debt rose to 76,76 billion dollars.
The IMF in 2015 approved a new lending program of Ukraine, which amounted to 17.5 billion dollars. The previous program from 2014 was left unfinished.
