The rider from Portugal Paulo gonçalves was killed during the seventh stage of the rally-marathon “Dakar” which takes place in Saudi Arabia, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to Country.
“Paulo gonçalves, who is riding the motorcycle number 8, died due to a fall at the 276-kilometer of today’s stage of the competition”, — stated in the message.
The organizers got the message about the fall of the riders and sent a medical helicopter to the scene. After resuscitation, the athlete was taken to hospital where he died from his injuries.
40-year-old Paulo gonçalves participated in its 13th consecutive marathon. He made his debut in 2006 and since that time racer four times and finished in the top 10 of the best participants of the races.
