Macedonia will become the 30th member of NATO.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia will be invited to the accession negotiations with the Alliance after the completion of the process of renaming of the country agreed with Greece.
“It is expected that after last month, agreement was reached on the title, we will coordinate an invitation to Skopje to start talks about joining NATO,” said Stoltenberg.
“After the completion and implementation of the agreement, we will be able to invite the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia to become the 30th member of NATO under the name Republic of North Macedonia” – said the NATO Secretary General.
In his opinion, this is a strong signal that “NATO’s doors are still open.”
