Automatic interplanetary station “Juno” made the massive hurricane on Jupiter.
The image was made on 24 October 2017 at 10:32 am. As noted, a hurricane rotates counterclockwise.
More dark clouds are believed to be located much lower in the atmosphere than a brighter. During a storm on the planet of clouds stretched almost to 7-12 km.
As you know, “Juno” (Juno) – automatic interplanetary station created by NASA in the framework of the program New Frontiers (the second project) to study Jupiter. August 5 2011 NASA launched the “Juno” in open space to move in the future into orbit of Jupiter.
Among the targets of its mission – to test hypotheses about the presence of Jupiter’s solid core by measuring the variations of the gravity field of the planet, study the planet’s atmosphere – definition of the content of water and ammonia, as well as the study of turbulence and constant storms like the Great red spot.
In October, NASA released a picture of the surface of Jupiter. In the photo you can see the shadow of the moon Amalthea.
