Science has long known about the existence of a link between the pesticide and reduced fertility, but a new study by researchers from Harvard University focused exclusively on women who have been through infertility treatment. And the results of this study surprised even its own authors.

Scientists have observed for the 325 women who had received infertility treatment in a hospital in Boston. They were interested in the relationship between successful pregnancy and childbirth and a woman’s diet. Carefully, the researchers estimated the number of fruits and vegetables containing high levels of pesticides.

Observations have shown that the maximum of the pesticides were observed in spinach, strawberries and peaches, and at least — avocados and onions. The results of the study were quite impressive. Consumed more than 2.3 servings of fruits and vegetables with high levels of pesticides in the day, women are 18% more often faced with problems at conception and 23% less likely to successfully give birth to children.

At the same time no correlation between the consumption of fruits and vegetables with low pesticide residues, as well as pregnancy and childbirth was found. It is impossible to call the results of this study exhaustive evidence of a connection between the vegetables and infertility, because the participating women lived in the same city, and they sought the services of a hospital. In addition, the study was not based on an objective assessment, and stories of women themselves, who remembered what quantity of fruits and vegetables consumed.

However this is another assumption about the existence of a link between infertility and pesticides in food, and in the most healthy varieties like strawberry or spinach that are present on the tables of fans of proper nutrition almost always.
