On the eve of Ukrainian WBO heavyweight Oleksandr Usyk in the heavyweight battle won Mairis Briedis became the finalist of the world Boxing series.
In the 12-round equal fight judges gave the Mustache a minimal advantage (114:114, 115:113, 115:113). In the battle with the Ukrainian Authorities caused by 17 punches (212 vs 195) – Usik better acted Jeb (91 vs 46), but on power punches Latvian surpassed Alexander (121 vs 149).
Oleksandr Usyk (Ukraine): “Thank you arena, my countrymen, Riga, thank you. You are a worthy son of your country, let’s give a round of applause Mairis. This is probably the hardest 12 rounds I did. Draw conclusions and prepare for the final.”
Mairis Briedis (Latvia): I think the fight everyone liked. The mustache is the most difficult and skilled opponents, who I boxed. Maybe I’m wrong, but we could have the fight again. The fight was close and the judges from the saw better. Perhaps their verdict was influenced by the fact that the Tendril was the favorite of the match”.
In the final of the super series world Boxing Oleksandr Usyk in may 2018 will meet the winner of the fight Murat Gassiev-Yunier Dorticos. Rival Ukrainian will be determined next Saturday, February 3.
