The meals are harmful to health in the first place is a dish of fugu: it is prepared from certain species of poisonous fish of the family Blowfish (puffer tetraodontidae) of the genus Takifugu that contains a lethal dose of tetrodotoxin. In Japan, fugu is considered a delicacy, but even there hardly used because of the risk of incorrect preparation, which is fraught with a deadly outcome. However, in Japanese, Korean and American restaurants with the appropriate license to serve this dish allowed, while in China and throughout Europe, fugu is completely outlawed.

Another fish, not bringing benefit — a salmon, but only if it were grown on farms. Here the fish are fed grain mixed with antibiotics and other drugs. Unpasteurized milk is much tastier and more nutritious thermally processed. The ban also applies to all products from raw milk.

Animal advocates constantly remind the cruel treatment of ducks and geese, whose liver is the production of foie Gras, but at the legislative level, this delicacy is prohibited only in India but also in the Brazilian city of são Paulo.

Horse meat was outlawed in two U.S. States — Illinois and California: the choice was made by the citizens in a national referendum.

In Singapore in 1992, the ban on chewing gum was initiated by the employees of public utilities who are tired to clean the dried pieces of rubber from sidewalks and other surfaces. The authorities approached the issue with all diligence: the smuggling was punishable by year in jail and a fine of 5,5 thousand dollars. Only in 2004, the ban was revised and the chewing gum became possible to buy the recipes.

Scottish national dish of sheep’s offal (heart, liver and lungs) chopped with onion, oatmeal, bacon, spices and salt and cooked in sheep stomach Haggis — not available in USA because of the ban on the import of sheep’s lungs. This law was passed in 1971; plans to review are constant, and optimists expect a cancellation before the end of this year.

Samosa — spiced triangular patties made of fried dough stuffed with meat or vegetables — to the Somali authorities reminded the Holy Trinity, and “Christian” dish was in this Muslim country is prohibited.

And the French authorities came to the conclusion that popular all over the world ketchup can assess the authenticity of local cuisine. Although adult citizens this sauce block is not steel, but from the school menu he seized it because in childhood formed the taste and is familiar with traditional dishes.
