The German company has introduced a new hybrid system of the third generation to own C and E class. However, the practicality of the car has decreased slightly.

The electrification of modern vehicles is in full swing. With more and more models are becoming hybrids, combining the advantages of combustion engines and electric motors. The German company Mercedes-Benz introduced a new line of hybrid systems for C – and E-class. Claimed fuel consumption in mixed mode may be only 1.6 liters per 100 km.

As it turned out, there were presented two systems, with petrol and diesel engines. Both power units are paired with the same Bosch motor, integrated into the new automatic transmission 9 steps – 9G-Tronic. The stated capacity of the electric component is 122 horsepower and 440 Nm of torque.

Hybrid gasoline built on the basis of two-liter turbo engine with power up to 211 horsepower. This motor is not used for the first time the “Mercedes” part of hybrid installation. But thanks to the improvement of design and new electric motor total power increased to 320 forces and 700 Nm of torque. This system is designed exclusively for line of models E-class e 300.

According to official information, E 300 e will be able to accelerate to first “hundred” for 5.7 seconds. Fuel consumption will be only 2 liters per 100 km in mixed mode.

The diesel variant of the system has similar characteristics. The engine develops 194 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. The total capacity of 306 forces and 700 Nm of torque. But there is a loophole for automotive enthusiasts – the power of the unit is electronically limited.

Hybrid based on a diesel motor will be designed for C – and E-Class. Claimed fuel consumption can reach the minimum values of 1.6 liters per 100 km With optional fuel tank 60 liters is able to provide mileage up to 1 000 km.

Another feature of the models will be branded assistant ECO Assist. Able to analyze road traffic, scheduled route and offer the best style and driving mode for maximum efficiency. For transmission there are four preset modes of operation: Hybrid and E-Mode (move only on electric) and E-Save, which electronics keeps the battery level and Charge mode designed for charging the battery of the internal combustion engine and using the recovery system.

As a power source is applied the battery is 13.5 kWh. This ensures that vehicles up to 57 kilometers solely on electric, with a top speed of 130 km/h. the battery can be recharged in 1.5 hours, assuming the use of proprietary charging. From the network machine will be charged about 5 hours.

In sale the model will appear in the summer of 2019. The cost remains unknown.
