A new study has shown that women are more likely to accept a proposal of marriage from men with a stronger handshake.
The strength of the handshake lies in the ability to fight. It predicts the risk of cardiovascular disease and death.
“Our results indicate that women choose partners, subconsciously focusing on their strength. If a man has a strong handshake, he is healthy, and therefore, both spouses can avoid or defer the role of guardian, while less healthy men remain unmarried and have to seek help elsewhere,” said Vegard Skirbekk, a Professor at Columbia University in new York, USA.
In a study published in the journal “SSM-Population Health”, scientists have studied the relationship between the strength of a handshake and family status 5009 adults. The strength of the arms was estimated using vigorelle device, which is a rubber cylinder, which is squeezed by the participants.
The researchers found that more single men have a low power handshake.
