WBO heavyweight champion in the second Featherweight champion Ukrainian Vasyl Lomachenko has explained its position on a potential fight with Manny Pacquiao.

Legendary Filipino last week announced the start of negotiations with the team Lomachenko, the Ukrainian boxer’s promoter Bob Arum confirmed the information and called the approximate date of the battle – fall of 2018.

“When I was offered the fight with Manny Pacquiao, I fired it up I was curious. First, because it’s a legend. Second, because this is a big name and a top fighter.

The only question was what weight we fight. Pacquiao now the fighter weight 66 kg, now I’m just trying to go in the 61 kg. If I immediately climb to 66 kg or 63 kg, it would be completely unreasonable and illogical just physiologically. So, at the moment, specifically in the course of this year, I this fight will not take.

Then, if you suddenly raise the issue to fight Pacquiao, no matter how I carried out this fight, still say “you beat an old guy, you got him not his weight”, because it is clear that I will not be a year in the 66 kg to fight,” said Lomachenko in an interview for channel Boxing.ua on YouTube.

Vasyl Lomachenko is planning to return to the ring in April. The name of the next opponent and weight class, which will be held on the battle, is still unknown.
