Japan welcomes new nuclear doctrine of the United States. This is stated in the statement published on Saturday, February 3, on behalf of the Minister of foreign Affairs of Japan Taro Kono.
According to him, “Tokyo recognizes the commitment of the U.S. to ensure the effectiveness of deterrence and a commitment to dissemination of its allies, including Japan, due to the fact that the situation in the sphere of international security is deteriorating rapidly since the publication of the previous doctrine, in 2010.”
Japan will strengthen policy of deterrence through the Japan-us Alliance through close consultations on issues, including nuclear deterrence, the statement of the Minister.
“Japan will continue to work closely with US in promoting real and tangible nuclear disarmament, adequately responding to current security threats,” reads the document.
