The company Italdesign presented a WheeM-i, first service sharing trips for wheelchair users.

WheeM-i is a joint project between Italdesign and Etisalat, which will be presented at the GITEX technology Week in Dubai will take place from 6 to 10 October, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to avtodream.org.

WheeM-i is the equivalent of semi-Autonomous electric vehicle with the wheel control, which facilitates the movement of the towns people who have to move around in wheelchairs.

Users will be able to book wheelchair WheeM-i through a specialized smartphone app, access to pre-selected locations, and then to sit on the reserved vehicle.

At the end of the trip, the car should be put in the nearest place of storage of such vehicles – such places are shown on the map.

WheeM-i received an integrated system, allowing users to avoid collisions with fixed or mobile obstacles. The vehicle is also designed to help passengers to overcome the “architectural barriers”.

The application will allow you to interact with the device, other wheelchair users, other modes of transport, and other transport applications (through the API).

Visitors to the exhibition GITEX will be able to see live demonstrations of the new WheeM-i – will be shown the whole process, from booking the vehicle via a special application, the choice of the route, to simulation the usage, with the ability to ride on WheeM-i.
